Entrepreneur Category

iLEAD started a Christmas maker fair last year to raise money for clubs. The first year was a success things did not operate smoothly so a group of us got together and decided to take it over as an STLP entrepreneur project. We built a website for advertising and generated interest in the project. We changed the checkout process from a paper system to a a scanner and price code system. The data was automatically uploaded to a spreadsheet to keep track of sales as well as produce totals for customers buying multiple items. I was in charge of quality assurance, organization and planning and helping build the website. Our group created custom ornaments on the laser engraver and I built some outdoor snowmen to be sold in the fair. The night was very successful and we were able to generate more profits this year. This project was a great learning experience. My end goal is to go into engineering management and eventually own a engineering firm. This project will come in handy as I pursue my MBA and entrepreneur career.

Maker Fair Year Two

The Maker Fair was a major success in year one. We raised over four thousand dollars which we where able to put towards going to Technology Student Association in May to compete as a school. Since the fundraiser was so successful we decided to keep it going with a few upgrades. This year we decided to make things more structured and work in teams to complete projects rather than individually make them. The new system worked great and we were able to produce more consistent items. I created the Wooden sleds and Santa & Grinch heads shown in the slides to the left.
