My Junior year I participated in the Kentucky United Nations Assembly, iLEAD represented China, Denmark and Ethiopia. I was in charge of the Denmark global village scene, we chose to represent the viking history. I was also put in charge of building the house structure, after researching the architecture of the different countries I choose to represent China because of their unique style found in traditional buildings. Overall our trip to KUNA was a success, taking home first place for our global village. While KUNA isn't a STEM project I did enjoy researching and getting creative to represent another cultures architecture. I work in construction and the design and architecture aspect of the industry has always interested me. The design was fun and a little challenging because it had to be sturdy enough to stand without being a safety hazard but also be able to be taken apart and moved into the conference room. I chose to go with a folding design and removable top in order to move it. I also built a triangular prism to go inside, each side was painted like the scenery from the three countries to serve as the back drop for our photo booth. I engineered this to be taken apart into thee panels and be put together using pre-cut blocks. we were able to move it into the room and set it up in a matter of minutes which was a success on my part. It was also a great experience to get a feel for how large scale conferences work as far.
